Writing My Way Home

Welcome. I’m Ron.

I’m a writer who believes stories are how we survive change.

I’ve always believed that writing isn’t just about finding the right I write about grief and loss, yes, but also about love that doesn’t end, laughter that still finds a way in, and the life that continues to unfold after everything you thought was certain has shifted. My work lives in the in-between. The before and after. The moments we carry, the ones we release, and the stories that help us recognize ourselves again.

In 2026, my book steps into the world. I’ve been quietly working toward it for years, shaping essays that grew out of lived experience, patience, and an unwillingness to rush what mattered. It is a book about grief, but it is not a book without hope. It is about what remains. What endures. And the strange, steady luck that carries us forward even when we don’t yet know the way.

Much of this work began with loss. After my husband, Ken, died, writing became my lifeline. Journaling kept me tethered to myself when everything else felt unmoored. Over time, those pages became maps. Not quick answers or tidy conclusions, but honest paths toward meaning, resilience, and a new kind of wholeness.

That practice never left me. I’ve spent decades writing, reflecting, and teaching through the page. I don’t write from theory. I write from experience, revision, and the long companionship of the blank page. What you’ll find here are essays that sit with grief without trying to fix it, reflections on how writing can turn pain into purpose, and stories shaped slowly enough to tell the truth.

This site is part memoir, part ongoing conversation, and part love letter to the written word. To its ability to hold us steady. To remind us we are not broken. To help us feel less alone.

So come in. Read a little. Stay if it feels right. Maybe pick up a pen.

If you want new essays, behind-the-scenes notes on the upcoming book, and honest reflections from the writing desk, I invite you to join my newsletter, The Writing Life, Rewritten. That’s where I share what I’m working on and what I’m learning as I go.

So, come in. Read a little. Reflect a lot. Maybe pick up a pen.
